WELLNESS & PREVENTATIVE CARE
Maintain Good Health With Regular Check-ups

ANNUAL WELLNESS EXAMS
One of the best ways to maintain good health is stay on top of your preventative care and have an annual check-up with your doctor. VitalCare Family Practice encourages patients to be proactive when it comes to their preventative care so that any health problems can be identified and treated early.
Your annual check-up is like a screenshot of your health at a given time. This data allows us to monitor any subtle changes in your health that may be occurring over a period of time.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR ANNUAL CHECK-UP
One of the best ways to maintain good health is to have an annual check-up with your doctor. VitalCare Family Practice encourages patients to be proactive when it comes to their healthcare so that any health problems can be identified and treated early. Your annual check-up is like a screenshot of your health at a given time and this data allows us to monitor any subtle changes in your health that may be occurring over a period of time.
At your annual check-up, our providers will take a detailed health history and family health history, including any recent surgeries or medication changes that have been made. We urge our patients to take this time to discuss any concerns you may have about your health with us. We will also review your lifestyle habits such as smoking, alcohol consumption, diet and exercise. At VitalCare Family Practice, we offer weight management counseling and smoking cessation counseling to help you if you would like to modify your lifestyle habits. As we perform your physical examination, we will be checking:
AS WE PERFORM YOUR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION, WE WILL BE CHECKING:
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate/pulse
- Temperature
- Measure body composition
- Evaluate hearing and vision
- Assess overall appearance
- Blood work results
DURING YOUR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION, WE WILL ALSO ASSESS:
- Heart sounds
- Lung/breath sounds
- Thyroid
- Abdomen
- Neurological functions, such as reflexes, muscle strength, balance and mental status
IMMUNIZATIONS AND FLU SHOTS
Immunizations are an important part of preventative care for people of all ages. From newborns to seniors, immunizations help protect us from illnesses that can have serious health consequences. VitalCare Family Practice strongly recommends pediatric patients, as well as adults, follow the CDC guidelines for the standard Immunization Schedule.
Vaccines are especially important for adults 50 and older, particularly if you have chronic or ongoing health conditions, such as heart disease or diabetes. As we age, our immune systems become weaker and it can be harder to fight off various infections. Important immunizations for seniors include pneumonia, the shingles shot and your annual flu shot. VitalCare Family Practice urges all patients 6 months and older to get an annual flu shot.

WORK PHYSICALS
VitalCare Family Practice is pleased to offer work physicals and screenings for patients needing to comply with company procedures and regulatory requirements. If you are a patient, we will have your up-to-date health records to help complete the process. VitalCare Family Practice provides preventative care, general work physicals, as well as return to work and pre-employment physicals.
If your company requires specialized screenings for employment, we can also provide:
- Vision screenings
- Hearing tests
- Drug and alcohol screenings
- Immunizations/Flu shot
- TB testing
- Labs
VitalCare Family Practice will assess your overall health and look for any symptoms of illness or chronic disease that may affect how you perform the duties of your job. We will record your medical health history and current list of medications, and perform a physical exam.
It will be very helpful for you to bring any paperwork provided by your employer so that we can fill out the information at the time of your work physical. If you need a work physical or have questions about getting a work physical, please contact VitalCare Family Practice at (804) 256-8282 to learn more.
